TO BECOME A PIPEFITTER OR PLUMBER: The
San Diego & Imperial Counties Pipe Trades Joint Apprenticeship
Committee dispenses applications for apprenticeship training in the pipe
trades industry to all qualified applicants on a non-discriminatory basis. MINORITY AND FEMALES ARE ENCOURAGED TO APPLY TO QUALIFY THE
APPLICANT MUST APPLY IN PERSON AND HAVE THE FOLLOWING* DOCUMENTS AND
IDENTIFICATION WITH THEM AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION. APPLICANTS MUST BE AT
LEAST 18 YEARS OF AGE. Applications are taken every THURSDAY BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 8:00AM and 3:30PM at the Apprenticeship office, 6225 Federal Blvd, San Diego, Ca 92114. Please call 619/262-7589 if you need directions. ALL

A HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR G.E.D. CERTIFICATE *3. A BIRTH CERTIFICATE - A PHOTO STATIC COPY OF THE ORIGINAL FULL BIRTH CERTIFICATE. WE DO NOT ACCEPT HOSPITAL CERTIFICATES, BAPTISMAL RECORDS OR THE ABSTRACT BIRTH CERTIFICATES. If you were not born in this country you must provide your birth certificate and INS proof of your right to live and work in this country. *4. A VALID CALIFORNIA DRIVER LICENSE (WITH PHOTO) APPLICATION:
the application must be filled out at the time and place of applying.
The completed application must be submitted with the above-mentioned
documents. If you are missing any of the above-mentioned documents, your
application will not be taken. Application position on the eligibility list
is by date of completed application. NOTE: APPLICATION FOR APPRENTICESHIP IN NOT TO BE CONSTRUED AS AN OFFER OF EMPLOYMENT. A PERSONAL INTERVIEW AND MANDATORY DRUG TESTING IS REQUIRED! (PAID BY THE COMMITTEE)
Your completed application will be kept on file for up to two years. Depending on the amount of work available in the area, you could be on the list for up to two years. If this occurs you would have to re-apply to the program to remain eligible. You will earn college credits while attending apprentice school during the five year curriculum. School is two nights a week at night during the regular semester schedule at City College along with working eight hours during the day. Apprenticeship is combination of OJT hours and related classroom instruction OF 18 Weeks/52 hours of instruction. The probation period is the full first year. There are attendance and work rules that must be followed. There is no cost for the training except that there is a $20.00 per semester book charge for the required books. You will keep the books and start a reference library for future use. This program does qualify for VA benefits.
