About the U. A. training center...

The United Association has, throughout its history, been a driving force to maintain and increase industry standards with regards to excellence, protection of its members, and education capable of producing superior craftsmen.

Its leadership has faced, and conquered, many challenges, and General President Martin Maddaloni had to tackle the job of making sure U. A. instructors and members enter the new millennium prepared to meet whatever complexities and fast-paced changes the industry will undoubtedly demand.

General President Maddaloni acted as soon as he took office, expanding the U. A. Training Department, instituting regional training and forming an electronic delivery system transferring knowledge from site to site.

One of these concepts, called “distant learning,” will enable U. A. members everywhere to have access to the same high quality education, even though the origin of a lesson is across the country.

Apprentices or journeymen can learn in their own home, attend nationwide classes at any center, work in the chat rooms with one-on-one interchanges with instructors and experts in the field and see demonstrations on how to assemble or work with tools or equipment.

Instructors can be continuously and conveniently updated, rather than only spending a week in Michigan once a year at the Instructor Training Program. There will be hyperlinks to the manufacturers of new products and technology, if additional technical data is desired.

This regional center is to be fully functional. The U. A.  is indeed ready for the new millennium.
